What is Predestination?
Predestination is a religious belief involving the relationship between God and
His Creation. The general idea behind predestination is that God, before the Creation, predetermined the fate of
the universe throughout all of space and time. There are many different
views on what the Bible teaches and what this means
for mankind and eternity.
Differing sects of Christianity have their
own views of predestination, such as those held by Baptists, Catholics,
Lutherans,
and Presbyterians. Our site tries to briefly explain each belief so you can get an idea of what each branch
of Christianity believes. We also want to give a summary of John Calvin's writings on predestination, as
well as Saint
Augustine's predestination belief.
The above is a drawing
of John Calvin who thoroughly explained his views on predestination
in his writings. His predestination related writings are frequently referred to by modern day theologians, as are
the writings by Saint Augustine (also known as Aurelius Augustin, Pastor of
Hippo, North Africa).
